We keep personal data only as long as we need it to run Fluxer, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our rules. Section 7 of our privacy policy has the retention periods, and this article has answers to common questions about them.
What we keep while your account is active
Section 7.1 of our privacy policy explains what we keep while your Fluxer account is active. You can delete most of that data yourself, or you can delete your account.
Here is what we don't keep, and the limited records we keep in its place.
- Phone numbers. The verification text you send, with your number, is deleted from our own systems within 24 hours, and your account records only that verification happened. To stop one number from lifting limits on many accounts, we then keep only a one-way record of it with the account it verified, for about a month at most, as section 7.2 explains. Section 4.2 lists the text messaging provider that gets your text.
- ID documents. We never ask for or accept ID documents, selfies or face scans to check your age, and if you send an ID document anyway, we delete it without using it.
- Card numbers. Stripe handles card payments, and we get only partial card details, never the full number, as section 2.1 of our privacy policy says.
- Your messages in analytics or AI training. We never use what your messages say to measure how Fluxer is used, as section 2.2 of our privacy policy explains, and section 3.1 of our terms of service rules out training or evaluating AI models on your content.
How to remove your data
- You can delete individual messages and attachments in the app.
- If you'd rather delete all of your messages at once, you can use "Delete my messages", which you'll find under "Privacy" in your "User settings".
- You can delete your whole account under "Account" in "User settings".
- To have us remove a specific piece of data, email privacy@fluxer.com from your account's email address and tell us exactly what you want removed. Section 10 of our privacy policy says how quickly we reply to requests like this.
If you want to keep a copy of your data before you delete anything, you can export it at any time with "Export my data" under "Privacy" in "User settings".
What happens when you delete something
Section 7.3 of our privacy policy explains how long it takes deleted messages, attachments, communities, channels and accounts, including inactive ones, to be erased.
What we keep longer, and why
Section 7.4 of our privacy policy explains how long we keep report snapshots, security and usage logs, audit records, support conversations and payment records. Section 2.2 lists the security records we keep while your account exists. We may also keep anonymized information that can no longer identify you and use it to see how people use Fluxer.
Your rights
Section 10 of our privacy policy explains your rights and how to complain to your data protection authority, and section 17 has the disclosures for California residents.
Self-hosted instances
These retention periods are for fluxer.com. On a self-hosted instance, the people who run it decide how long its data is kept, and Fluxer has none of its messages, files or accounts.
