Checkout opens in the Fluxer web app. Operator Pass terms

Your Operator certificate

Your pass comes with this certificate. It's a PDF with one page for each pass, and each page has its own number, the name you choose at checkout and the date and time you paid. We email it to you, and you can download it in settings. Buying for someone else? Put their name on their certificate.

Also with the pass

The pass also comes with the Operator badge, a spot on the Operators' wall, #operators in Fluxer Labs and more, as the terms describe. For legal and accounting reasons, these things can change over time, and your certificate never does.

The Operator badge

The badge on your Fluxer profile shows when you got your pass, like "Operator Pass since November 2026". You can hide it, or just its date, in your settings at any time.

More with the pass

  • #operators in Fluxer Labs

The Operator role opens #operators to talk about self-hosting, bots and the API. Hampus, who created Fluxer, joins in when he can. For legal and accounting reasons, there are no set reply times.

  • Early feature testing

When a new Fluxer feature is ready for testing, we may invite you to try it on your instance and tell us what you think before it's stable. The code is already public and open source for everyone, and features that haven't been released yet can still have bugs.

  • The yearly Operators list

If you turn this on in your settings, your wall name goes on the yearly list we publish while you're listed on the wall. Each yearly list appears in the release notes and in the Fluxer source code.

  • An Operator mark on your instance

We're building a free list of Fluxer instances on our site, and you never need a pass to be on it. Once it's live and you have a pass, your listed instance gets an Operator mark next to its name.1Note about listed instances

1 Instances on the list are run by the people who host them, not by Fluxer, and we review each listing and can decline or remove it.

How Fluxer is funded

Hampus Kraft, creator of Fluxer

Fluxer is built by a very small team, and running it costs money every month for servers, storage, bandwidth and our time. Plutonium, donations and the Operator Pass are how it's funded.

We have no outside investors, and I won't take venture capital. Investors expect a return, and for chat apps that usually means showing ads or selling data. We don't run ads, and we never sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising.

The Operator Pass is a one-time purchase that helps fund Fluxer. Self-hosting, the docs and community help stay free for everyone.

How it works

  • You pay once, and nothing renews.
  • You can pass on each pass you buy to a friend's Fluxer account one time, and it moves when they accept.
  • The pass unlocks nothing in the Fluxer software you run. Self-hosting and the API stay free for everyone.

Questions about the pass

Who is the Operator Pass for?

It's for anyone who wants to help fund Fluxer, whether you self-host, build bots or just use the app. Community help in Fluxer Developers stays free and open to everyone, whether or not they have a pass.

Where does the funding go?

Funding from Operator Passes, Plutonium subscriptions and donations pays for the servers, storage and bandwidth behind the official Fluxer service, which is free to use, and the small team that builds and runs it. It also pays for building the open source Fluxer app, which anyone can self-host for free.

We have no outside investors or ads, and we never sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising.

Do I need a pass to self-host?

No. Self-hosting, the docs and the operator guide are free and the same for everyone.

Can I have the pass on my account on a self-hosted instance?

No, for billing reasons. The pass belongs to the fluxer.com account you buy it with, since that's where we handle checkout, billing and your certificate, and it can't move to an account on another instance. Showing your Operator badge on your own instance too might become possible later, on instances that choose to support it.

Does the pass get me faster help?

No, for legal and accounting reasons. Community help in Fluxer Developers is the same for everyone, and a pass doesn't put your questions there ahead of anyone else's. Operators get the #operators channel to talk about self-hosting, bots and the API, and we may invite them to try new features before they're released, as the terms describe. The pass isn't a support contract, and buying more passes only changes your spot on the wall and the number on your Operator badge. The answer about changes further down the page explains those reasons.

How does the Operators' wall work?

You pick any display name or nickname at checkout, and your spot goes live when you pay.

What happens when I change my name or avatar?

Your listing follows your profile unless you turn that off in your settings.

What if I'd rather not be on the wall?

Turn off "Show me on the Operators' wall" at checkout or in settings. You keep your pass and badge.

What if I'd rather not show the Operator badge?

Showing the Operator badge on your profile is your choice. You can hide it, or just its date, in your settings. Your pass and your spot on the Operators' wall stay either way, and you can show the badge again later.

Does having more passes change anything?

Every Operator gets the same access and treatment on purpose, because the pass isn't meant to be a members' club. More passes give you a larger spot on the Operators' wall and a higher number on your Operator badge. Everything else that comes with the pass is the same for everyone, however many passes they have, as the terms explain.

What is #operators?

It's a channel in Fluxer Labs, our community for building and testing new features. Operators use it to talk about Fluxer in general, including self-hosted deployments, bots and the API. It isn't an off-topic channel. If a question needs a longer back-and-forth, start a thread, and if you want to share logs or setup details with only the people you choose and the community's moderators, start a private thread instead and add those people.

The Operator role also puts you in the Operators group in the member list, with its own role color. It doesn't let you post anywhere else in the community that other members can't, so Operators get no special status there. Hampus, who created Fluxer, joins in when he can, and beginners are welcome. The channel and the role come with every pass.

Can I keep my setup details private in #operators?

To share setup details like your domain, config or logs, you can start a private thread in #operators and add people you choose. Remove any passwords, tokens and keys first, and any personal data about your users, like IP addresses and emails. People in the thread and the Fluxer Labs moderators can see it, but others in #operators can't.

The only other people who can open it are authorized people on our team, and only when they need to investigate a report, enforce our rules, respond to a credible safety issue or respond to a valid legal request, as our privacy policy says. Every time someone on our team opens it, that access is recorded in an audit log.

Why is there an early bird price?

It thanks the people who back the pass by , while self-hosting is still new. We won't move or extend that date. After that, new passes cost the standard price, and passes you've already bought never cost more.

Can I buy more passes later?

Yes. Each purchase can include up to 25 passes, and you can make as many purchases as you like. If you buy more passes later, each one costs whatever the price of a pass is on the day you buy it.

Can I buy a pass for someone else?

Yes. Put their name on their certificate page at checkout. Then download just that page in your settings and send it to them, or print it and give it to them. That way they get only the page with their own name. You can also pass that pass on to their Fluxer account if they have one, and it then shows on their profile.

Which letters can the name on my certificate use?

Each name can use its usual writing system, such as Latin, Arabic, Devanagari, Chinese characters, Japanese kana or Hangul. We print each name exactly as typed, with every accent and mark. Emoji can't go on the certificate.

Can I buy passes for my business?

Choose at checkout to buy as a business and add your company name, address and VAT ID. The invoice we send you then shows your VAT ID. Reverse charge applies wherever the law requires it.

Each purchase can include up to 25 passes, and you can make another purchase when you need more. You can put your company name on the certificate, and each pass can go once to a staff member on your friends list.

For legal reasons, a business purchase has no right of withdrawal, because the law gives that right only to consumers. The exception is a purchase with a billing address in Brazil or paid in Brazilian reais.

We treat that as a consumer purchase with 7 days to withdraw after delivery, as the terms say. These 7 days don't apply if you buy for a company and enter its Brazilian company number (CNPJ) at checkout.

Can I give a pass to someone else?

Yes. You can pass on each pass you buy to a friend's Fluxer account one time. It goes directly to their account. They accept or decline, and you can take the offer back until the pass moves to their account.

Once it has moved, it can't be passed on a second time. Your certificate doesn't change.

What if I pass on my only pass?

We ask you to confirm first. The move is final, and your badge, wall listing and #operators leave your account with the pass. Passes you passed on to others don't count toward keeping them, because they belong to someone else now. If you have Visionary, it keeps #operators for you even without a pass of your own.

Can I get a refund?

For legal and accounting reasons, you can't withdraw once we deliver your certificate. At checkout you ask us to deliver it right away, and the law ends the right to withdraw on that delivery, as the terms explain.

If you have a billing address in Brazil or pay in reais, you can withdraw within 7 days of delivery. These 7 days don't apply if you buy for a company and enter its Brazilian company number (CNPJ) at checkout.

While you can still withdraw, use "Withdraw from contract here" next to the purchase in your settings. If the certificate isn't delivered to you or has a fault, the law where you live still protects you.

Why can the things that come with the pass change?

The pass works this way for legal and accounting reasons. Hampus intends to keep #operators as an important part of the pass. The terms let us change how the channel and everything else that comes with it work as Fluxer grows. Any real change needs a good reason, such as low use, cost, a legal or security problem, or changes in how Fluxer works.

Priority support would need guaranteed reply times, and a company that misses one usually owes its customers a credit or a refund. Most of the questions in #operators go to Hampus, and that isn't a promise he can keep on his own.

A fixed promise would make the things that come with the pass part of what the price pays for, so a change could mean refunds. Your certificate is what the price pays for, and we deliver all of it within moments of your payment, so almost all of the income counts at that point. If the price also paid for things that keep running, such as #operators, Swedish accounting rules would have us spread that part of the income over several years.

Do I get a say in the roadmap?

You get the same say as everyone else in what we build. Anyone can post ideas on Fluxer Feedback, and a pass doesn't give your posts more weight. When we invite Operators to try a feature before it's released, they can discuss it with us in #operators to help us improve it. When we decide what to build, we weigh everyone's ideas the same way.

Does the pass give me special status?

No. Operators are members just like everyone else. The role gives you no say over other members and no special treatment from moderators, and the same rules apply to everyone in Fluxer Labs.

When an Operator asks for a feature or a change on Fluxer Feedback, we weigh it the same way as a request from anyone else, and a pass doesn't give anyone's ideas more weight when we decide what to build.

Your badge is a thank-you for backing Fluxer, and that's all it means. If someone uses it to talk down to others or act above them, our moderators may step in, the same as they would with anyone else.

How is this different from Plutonium or Visionary?

Plutonium is a subscription that adds features to your account on the official service, and the pass doesn't add any of them. Visionary already includes access to read and post in #operators in Fluxer Labs, and you keep that access whether or not you turn on its Operator Pass. From November 1, 2026, you can turn it on in settings, under "Profile", whenever you like. You pay nothing more for it, and nothing about your Visionary changes when you turn it on.

Why buy a pass instead of donating?

Both help fund the work of running and building Fluxer. A donation is a gift that comes with nothing in return, and donating doesn't change your account. The pass is a purchase that comes with a numbered Operator certificate, the Operator badge and a spot on the Operators' wall, and you don't get any of them with a donation.

Hampus explains why Fluxer sells the Operator Pass and why it costs what it does in a longer help article.
