A clean reinstall removes Fluxer and everything it stores on your device, and then installs it again. It can help when the app won't start, keeps crashing or is stuck on an old version. You'll be signed out of every account on this device, on every instance, but your messages, communities and settings stay on the instance and come back when you sign in.
Before you start
- To sign in again, you need access to your email, and your password if your account has one. If you use two-factor authentication, you also need your second factor.
- If you started Fluxer with only a name, add an email to your account first, because you can't sign back in to an unclaimed account after a clean reinstall.
- To keep your themes, open "Themes" in settings and choose "Export library" under "Share and back up". After you reinstall, use "Import library" to bring them back.
- The desktop app settings stored on this device are reset, and so are your custom CSS, custom keybinds and base theme unless you turned on syncing for them.
If you plan to report a bug, first copy the logs from one of these folders.
%AppData%\fluxer\logson Windows~/Library/Logs/fluxer_desktopon macOS~/.config/fluxer/logson Linux~/.var/app/app.fluxer.Fluxer/config/fluxer/logsif you use the Flatpakdata\fluxer\logsnext toFluxer.exein the portable version on Windows
For Fluxer Canary, the macOS folder is ~/Library/Logs/fluxer_desktop_canary, and on Windows and Linux the folder is called fluxercanary in place of fluxer.

Linux

Web app
Clearing Fluxer's site data signs you out of every account in your browser and deletes drafts, themes and custom sounds. It also deletes the copy of the app your browser saves for faster loading. If an old version keeps showing up, that copy is what's out of date.
- Close every Fluxer tab.
- Open your browser's settings and find the sites that store data on your device. Search for "fluxer" and delete the data for
web.fluxer.appandfluxer.com. - Open Fluxer again and sign in.
If you use Fluxer Canary in your browser, delete the data for web.canary.fluxer.app and canary.fluxer.com in step 2 in place of the regular sites.
iOS and Android
The iOS TestFlight beta is on hold for now, so you can't install it again from TestFlight, and you should keep the app you already have. We expect Fluxer to be on the App Store in early November 2026, and this help article explains how to use Fluxer until then.
To reinstall the Android app, follow these steps.
- Open the Fluxer app and sign out of each account. If you can't open it, sign in on another device later and sign out the old device in "Linked devices" in settings.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Install it again from Google Play.
If you installed the Android app from GitHub, you have to uninstall it before you can install the version from Google Play, and the same is true the other way around.
If the problem doesn't go away
If Fluxer still doesn't work after a clean reinstall, please report it on Fluxer Feedback with your platform, your Fluxer version and the exact steps that cause the problem. For problems with your account, you can email us at support@fluxer.com.
